BEWARE THE MOON REVIEWS

Goodbye Mommy

Goodnight Mommy has been on my watch list since I heard about it - four years ago.  I am not good at watching new movies if they aren't on Netflix or Prime or TV, okay!?  "Twin boys move to a new home with their mother after she has face changing cosmetic surgery, but under her bandages is someone the children don't recognize."
The first thing I thought when I was watching this, "damn, I should have listened more in German class at school" - I had forgotten to put on the subtitles...  As soon as I had done that, I was happy as Larry.

Mum arrives home from having her 'procedure' done, and she is not creepy at all.  Yeah, my mum also likes to stand in dark rooms, staring at nothing, and playing with blinds, while her face is bandaged up.  Mum also, their mum, not mine, likes weird foggy looking photos and creepy Barbie style dolls - but not only that, she does act very different to how she was before she went away.  How do you know this, you ask?  Well, the film is very clever as the two sons recorded the mum before she went away, and they play that in comparison, and actually, there is a massive difference - so thank you movie for that!

I have been speaking about how weird the mum is, but I can't lie, even the kids are weird.  They just seem to be those people who when someone is talking to them and trying to make conversation, they just don't say anything and stare at them.  Maybe the sons were brought up like that, as much sits on one of the kids at one point - literally sits on him.  As far as I can remember, my mum has never sat on me...  My mum is also not that sketchy, this mum is taking weird calls, and takes photos off the walls - my mum announces when she is going to change photos, and asks if we like where she has put them...

Again, I have said that the mum and kids are weird, but mid way through, cold call charity workers turn up at the door, and when there is no answer at the door they let themselves in.  Let themselves in!!!!!  To a strangers house!!  And not only that, they start walking upstairs!!!  Up the stairs!!!  In a strangers house!!  I mean, c'mon, what's wrong with these people?!!  Honestly, I felt like everyone in this film was a little weird, maybe it's the water.

Overall, I was not a fan of this film.  There is a twist, and it is a good twist, but for me, it leaves a lot of plot holes and questions - unless I have missed something, but I didn't think I had.
When I read up on the film after, it did sound very clever how they had done the film, and how they distract you from the twist, and lead you down another rabbit hole, but it just left me with loads of questions.  Good twist, but maybe I missed something...
