BEWARE THE MOON REVIEWS

Truth Or Dare

So I managed to watch two films in one day, this was the one I was most excited about to watch...that may have been a mistake.  "A harmless game of Truth or Dare among friends turns deadly when someone -- or something -- begins to punish those who tell a lie or refuse the dare."

I was so damn excited for this film, I loved the old books Chainletters about a game like this where if people don't do it, they die, and this reminded me of those.  I was also really excited as the ChainLetter movie was awful, so I needed this.
Truth or Dare was okay.  I am sad to report, it was only okay, the trailer in my opinion, made it look better than it was.  The faces people make when they ask that famous question, (that are shown in the trailer.), are great, but the rest of the trailer kind of shows the whole movie.  I mean, damn, I saw Geoff from the Goldbergs, (boo, I love Geoff and The Goldbergs.), die in the trailer before I had even seen the film.  You see it all, the whole death, it cuts away but not before you see the breaking of his neck.  I hate trailers that do this, you don't have to show everything to get bums on seats, man!

I have to say as well, I am not one to criticise script as I am not a writing and I don't tend to be good at remembering quotes and that, but I remember this one...  The script is pretty bad.  As said, I don't do well with quotes, but I remember this one sounds like a group of teenagers wrote it and it likes to state the obvious a lot.  Basically, long story short, this film goes off cliches, teenage cliches, and damn, these teenagers had a much more interesting school life than me...
As mentioned I liked the weird faces that were pulled and the voices, they weren't keeping you awake at night creepy, but still.  Deaths were okay, not the goriest, apart from the pen one, but again, IT WAS ON THE TRAILER.  So most of what you see in the film, you've already seen - I do put some of the lose of tension in this film down to the trailer to be fair, you could say it's my fault for watching the trailer, but I like watching them!  They get me excited and I am meant to watch them as they sell the film to you, so sssssh.  I just wish not everything was shown in them!

Truth or Dare is cliched and fun, it's simple and one to watch either to pass the time when you have turned your brain off, or when you're with friends and want a laugh.  It won't kill you to watch it but you also won't go away with your mind blown.  I'd watch it again, but if I'm honest, I'd rather watch I Know What You Did Last Summer...

Cabin Fever

Twist in the plot, this is a review for the new one!  "While visiting their getaway cabin, five friends succumb to a flesh-eating disease."  I like the first one, and shock horror, without giving too much away as this is only the start of this review, I liked this one...

Cabin Fever, as in the new one, is entertaining, and it's fun, and, please, no one strike me down, I would say it's almost as good as the original.  I see Cabin Fever as a fun little number, and the remake does exactly that.  Not much of a storyline, a cabin, and a flesh eating skin virus - what more could you want?!  The new one does that to a T, some might say they didn't feel this was needed as there was nothing wrong with the old one, but I don't see anything wrong with it.  The new one isn't trying to take over from the old one at all, just maybe standing side by side with it instead...

One thing about me is I love gore, and another thing about me is, I don't often hate remakes.  You know why?  Because remakes tend to turn the gore up to 11 and also it tends to be more realistic.  Cabin Fever doesn't really need this treatment as it is a film made by Eli Roth, but still, it's great.  It obviously takes its gore inspiration from the first one and it does it well, very well.  I was happy.  Nothing much added from the original gore wise but nothing lost.

As much as people hate remakes, this one is not that bad, I have seen worse, way worse.  It doesn't really add anything to the story, but it doesn't lose anything.  It's a simple little film and has some good but stereotypical characters that are nice to watch.  It's simple!  I like both the films, I have no complaints.
