BEWARE THE MOON REVIEWS
![]() So, two things, one, this is one of my new ones from CEX I got last week or so, finallyyyyyyyyy getting through them, and two, I read this movie was super duper gross. Only one of these is true... I'll give you a minute or so to have a think and guess which one you think is the truth... "While on her bachelorette party getaway, Casey, the bride to be, gets a seemingly harmless bite from an unknown insect. After the trip, Casey discovers that everything can change with a single bite." ![]() Worked it out yet? The first one is true! I did get it from CEX, but Bite is not super duper gross. It is gross, I mean Casey basically starts turning into some weird little creature, very much Jeff Goldblum The Fly style. And she does the whole falling apart, skin peeling off, even the acid spit and vomit, (a great death by the way), but I didn't wince or have to look away due to it being too gross. I have to say, I am a massive fan of horror FX effects, I love watching people do it and doing it myself, and watching how clever people are with what they use too. I really feel it adds to a films realism most of the time if the gore has actually been made and is on the actor or the set or so. This film does the effects so damn well, like it's a masterpiece for effects. Casey's dark and dim flat that is like that little dark corner in the cupboard that you never want to pop your hand in due to not knowing what is living there... Casey also looks great in this film, may I add. Her transformation is a treat for gore loving eyes like mine. It starts slowly, but even at the start, it's all boils and pus, just what I want on a Saturday morning. It then heightens to her actually losing skin and becoming completely unrecognisable - effects wise, I was enjoying it. Could have pushed it, but that is just my desensitized brain... ![]() Bite has an alright story, it had a few twists here and there, little ones, and a story that some could go along with, mainly me as I am a single pringle and love being one. Casey is engaged but has doubt, lots of doubt about getting married - anytime someone mentions to me about settling down, I tend to go into a cold sweat. I was with Casey and her doubt, and I do feel the bite was kind of a silver lining in a gross horror sort of way - hey, she doesn't need to marry in the end and the nasty nasty mother in law who hates her is no more. Silver lining and all. It's an okay story, very The Fly but I liked it, it's fun and it fueled my love of gore for a bit, it cleverly swaps between footage from the film and also footage from the holiday, only revealing little bits at a time and when needed - which I thought was pretty well done. Damn, Casey has some stupid friends though... Bite is a fun little movie, with some gore that I actually did enjoy. It didn't blow me away but I would happily watch it again. Maybe watch it with The Fly next time... It's not as good as The Fly, but it'll do when you can't watch it or if The Fly has buzzed off...
