BEWARE THE MOON REVIEWS
Okay, so the last review I just wrote was about He’s Out There and I said about how I had gotten a little bit confused regarding the ending and leading up to the ending. Well, you wanna see me really confused, watch Clinical with me... “After being traumatized when a patient violently attacks her, a psychiatrist tries to repair her life by helping a new patient who has his own terrifying history.”
Clinical is an okay film, I really wasn’t blown away by it, then it just kind of ended, and I spent a good few minutes staring into the Cross Fit trainer screen, trying to work out what just happened. I liked the idea of it, it’s a very original idea in some ways, but it just didn’t seem to go anywhere. Scenes happened and you met characters but it just seemed to be going at the same speed up until the ending, sped up at the end, and then just ended, into a puff of smoke. Jane kind of spends the movie going against what she is told, by her smart boyfriend Miles, and it just brings trouble, she gets rid of the trouble, but then is always persuaded to start the trouble up again. Such as stopping seeing tricky patients who wouldn’t help her cope with her problems, but then she starts seeing them again – like some weird crazy affair.
The thing I did really like about Clinical was the gore – damn, I am so obvious with that answer. The gore was great, from Alex’s flashback to the bottle opener... I can’t say more about the bottle opener as it is a massive spoiler, but what I will say about it is IMDB stated that it is a ‘screw driver’... I feel it’s a bottle opener, actually, I am 99% sure it’s a bottle opener, more so, a wine bottle opener. Damn, I went right off the gore and to a bottle opener... There isn’t a whole lot of gore, but it’s good when it is there – coming from someone who loves FX makeup, I was impressed and it had me thinking how it was done and how it could be recreated.
I feel this section of the review is going to be the longest part of this whole thing as I do have a fair bit to say about the ending... I didn’t get it! The ending lost me so damn much. Not only was I so damn lost at the end, but it also just ended. Obviously, I am not going to say the ending, as you knowwwww, no spoilers here, but what I will say, is there is a bit of a fight, and then another little something something with Jane, and then it goes black. It literally just ends, so quickly I had to wind it back a little as I thought I had missed something, but nope, nothing missed. I was even more confused after winding it back and making sure nothing was missed. I actually had to Wikipedia the ending to fully understand it, and actually, it’s a really good ending and a nice little twist – just ignore the last little scene as it feels like they ran out of ideas...
Clinical was okay in my eyes. I have seen much better, I was still intrigued with it though, which is why I carried on watching but I did just feel it was a good idea that never really went anywhere. I think I’ll watch Hocus Pocus instead of this next time if I have the choice... (See what I did there regarding some of the cast?!? EH, EH!).
Watching horror films since like 2003, when I could stand dead bodies..
