BEWARE THE MOON REVIEWS
No one judge me, I am writing this while Shrek plays on Netflix in the background...
Event Horizon is a film that I saw years ago, but fairly recently it popped up in my searches for gory movies, so I had to do it again - it took me months, but I finally got to watching it. "A rescue crew investigates a spaceship that disappeared into a black hole and has now returned...with someone or something new on-board."
I was into this film, it wasn't too slow, or confusing, Sam Neill was a very good teacher when it came to his explaining using a porn mag, and I liked most of the characters. One of them was even a bit of a comedian, but a good one, who'd have thunk.
From the off set, there are jumps and moments of action, even gore in the flashbacks, which was the wholeeeeee reason I wanted to watch it again...
As mentioned, the reason I watched it again was because when I Googled it, a few images popped up from it showing a lot of gore, and I mean a lot. And not just gore, creepy gore too, eyes and cuts and all sorts - I was excited.
Even though I enjoyed the film, I was a little let down by the gore... I am a gore fanatic, are you surprised?!
Most of the gore in this is shown all in flashbacks, and not just in flashbacks, super duper quick flashbacks. Flashbacks that you would probably have to pause the film to actually see properly, once paused or Google imaged, they are great scenes of gore, but too quick in the actual film. For being the main reason I watched this film I was a little sad... saying that though, I still had a great time watching it!
Event Horizon was made in 1997 and it does stand the test of time - you know it's a 90s film, Sam Neill is in it... It's a fun little film and passes the time well, I am glad I went back for a second viewing, even if I didn't see much gore...
Question though; what do you think Sam Neill would rather go against, space or a dinosaur?
Watching horror films since like 2003, when I could stand dead bodies..
