BEWARE THE MOON REVIEWS
![]() Know what really makes my whole life? Someone giving me the honour of watching and reviewing their film. That is exactly what actor and director Ryan Kruger did, Ryan contacted me and asked me if I would like to watch and review his short film Fried Barry - currently post production of being made into a feature film. I, of course, jumped at the chance... "Barry is a drug-addled, abusive bastard who - after yet another bender - is abducted by aliens. Barry takes a backseat as an alien visitor assumes control of his body and takes it for a joyride through Cape Town. What follows is an onslaught of drugs, sex and violence as our alien tourist enters the weird and wonderful world of humankind. FRIED BARRY is based upon the short film of the same name, which earned 57 official selections and 12 wins at festivals around the world." ![]() The above description is about the feature length film off IMDB, which is based off the short film that I watched, the short does not show all of that, but what it does show really gets you wanting more... For three minutes, Fried Barry fits in a lot even though, really, you don't get to see a lot. Only staying in the same setting for most of the time, and with one character, Barry, Fried Barry intrigues you, makes you feel like are in for one hell of a ride, and really leaves you wanting more. ![]() During the short, you see Barry not having the best time, he screams, he fidgets, and he just looks in pain and like he hasn't had a good meal or bath for a good few months. You're lost, not really sure what is going on, but it really pulls you in. It is shot so well, even the intro is very professional looking, and every angle is clearly thought out and planned. It is an insanely dirty feeling short, the scenery, Barry, everything about it really sets a gritty, dirty tone, and one that you really don't envy Barry being in. My favourite part though, the end, not because I wanted it to be over, the opposite, I wanted more, but the ending really opens up the film. You start seeing Barry change, just little glimmers of what you and Barry are in for with the feature film - and it's so great. He's tongue starts the transition off, followed by bulging eyes and more. I had a great time watching this, I love good old dirt and grossness in films, and this really had a feeling of that. Did I love the short? Yes. Will I be seeing the feature? Hell yes. I shall link the short, so you can go watch it, and if you don't, YOU FOOL. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wna49sFVsMY&t=20s&fbclid=IwAR35giP9GQ65nevLXejDPXfcSg8kmEBaVcE3o7s8pMIrwd_UqAwewOFKOJY
