BEWARE THE MOON REVIEWS
As you may of guessed, if you have ever read this website or even had a glance, I am a massive horror fan. I love anything horror, literally anything, or so I thought... Two of the biggest things of last year and, one has come back this year just as big, are The Exorcist and Outcast, both horror TV shows. I was thrilled, more horror on my TV, yes please I thought! But I didn't like either... Literally could not get into either of them.
I watched The Exorcist years ago because it was a classic and a lot of people say 'it was the scariest thing I have ever seen', and so on.. And I hated it, like in the sense I would dress up as Regan for a party or such, but I would not watch it again, unless someone paid me or needed someone to watch it with. Damn, I'm such a nice person when it comes to horror films... I just don't like the film. I didn't find it scary, or disturbing like I was told or expecting - it's a classic, and a good costume but that's as far as my relationship goes with this film, much like the TV show of it too.
I had heard such great things about the show, so I thought I might love it - even though possession films aren't my favourite... but still, it's horror. I sat down, turned it on, and hated pretty much every second. I just could not keep interested by it, I watched the entire series, the entire thing, and I still did not like it.
I know what you're saying, I hated it but yet I still watched it all, well, I wanted to like it, I really really did. I had heard such good things about it, and especially as it was to do with the horror genre, nah, just didn't get it. There were parts that were good though, like the make up and gore are pretty good. The possession going into full demon is very good, the cast is good but yet, I could just not get into it. Pretty much like the film of it...
Outcast is a bit different compared to The Exorcist, it didn't really come from anything, like a film or such, no one had anything to compare it to, but it still got some very good write ups and reviews on it. So, I read these reviews, and they all said 'what horror fans have always wanted!', or similar, and I looked at myself and thought, I'm a horror fan, I will like this... Nope. This one, like The Exorcist, has its moments, it's tense, it's got good make up and effects and acting, and I love Philip Glenister, so I did want to like this, but I just couldn't get it. I tried so so hard, but I just didn't care for the story, or the characters, much like The Exorcist.
So, by this point I am losing it with horror TV shows, which is very very sad, because a really long horror that is good sounds perfect to me.. But, but, Netflix added Slasher recently, which is basically a slasher film over like seven hours or such... And it's good. Finally! Well, it's good, not amazing. I love slasher films, as you know, and this is a massive slasher film, just a bit less corny... But that is for a whole other list I feel...
I've given up with these shows, end of. I'll stick to horror films.
Watching horror films since like 2003, when I could stand dead bodies..
