BEWARE THE MOON REVIEWS
Oh boy, what can I say about Sleepwalkers...? I didn't have high hopes. I had seen clips and photos and it looked weird from the start, and on top of that, someone told me it opened with a son and mum having sex. I had no idea what to really expect. "A mother-and-son team of strange supernatural creatures move to a small town to seek out a young virgin to feed on."
I feel like, with a lot of Stephen King films, the book of this would probably be better, as this is not a good film. It did really remind me of Thinner, as both were done by King but both were just weird and bad. I feel both had more potential than they were actually given.
And Sleepwalkers does indeed pretty much open up with a mother and son sex scene - it was not a scene I expected to be sitting through, but luckily, it wasn't very long - until the next one. Oh yeah, it happens a fair few times. (I just read Wikipedia and it doesn't mention why they have sex. I feel it is something to do with them being the last of their kind or so... or their power...I don't really want to have to Google more about incest sex if I am honest...).
Mother is hungry and needs food, but not just any food, virgin food is what she really craves. QUICK, everyone have sex, as long as you are of age and it is consensual! Charles, the son, has to go and find it, as mother is waaaaaaay too hungry and weak, and he finds himself a date to wine and dine and then eat. I say eat, more like kiss and suck the life out of her - which I didn't fully get in someways, and while doing that, he kills one of the best characters. Shocking.
If I am honest, this movie is so bad, it's not really that enjoyable. It's kind of funny in parts due to how bad it really is, but really, I kind of wished I had watched something else. It's just a bizarre film.
Best thing about it was the cat faces, as some of them kind of gave me some form of disgusted look on my face as I saw it - kind of like when you smell something bad. I also know this is a bad film as my favourite character was Clova, the cat. I love cats but they are hardly counted as my favourite characters in horror films... My car is named after Jonesy in Alien, and even he isn't fully my favourite character in that film - animals are more like Gods in films!
Good thing though, I have a cat, and the sleepwalkers are scared of them, so I wouldn't be killed by any of them... Bad film though, pretty weird and bad film... I did enjoy the cameos though, both Joe Dante and my fave, John Landis showed their faces - still couldn't save it though...
Watching horror films since like 2003, when I could stand dead bodies..
