BEWARE THE MOON REVIEWS

The Prodigy

I am doing so well on seeing new horror films, just give myself a pat on the back...  "A mother concerned about her young son's disturbing behaviour thinks something supernatural may be affecting him."

I didn't know that much going into this film, but I feel I had heard it was creepy, and it is.  The prodigy does very well with holding the tension, one scene, which I won't give away the jump, literally made me jump so much I think my soul left my body and a little bit of wee came out...  It was good, I really wasn't expecting it, and it was one of the moments where you weren't actually that tense, well I wasn't anyway, and it still made me jump.  It is just a movie that feels creepy.

I really did enjoy The Prodigy, it takes an old story, a possessed/evil little brat child story, and makes it something completely different, with a story idea that I had never even heard of, and it really worked.  I just hate evil kids to be fair... and this is my second evil kid film in two days.  My unbroodiness for kids has just doubled...  Thanks to films like these, I just want animals when I am ready for a son or daughter...
Going back to the story though, I have never actually heard of this story before.  I fully went into this movie expecting the normal possessed child, only for it to pretty much throw that all up in the end and just throw out the rule book along with it.  And the ending, the ending is pretty much a punch in the face, followed by a poke in the eye.  It's pretty bleak.  Not going to mention it, you should know that by now, but it's bleak.  I am weird though, and do like bleak endings, so I was very happy.

The Prodigy was overall a very enjoyable little movie.  I had heard some good things through the grapevine, and I hands down agree, it's good.  It also made me wee a little, which always makes a film good in my eyes, as that is hard to do, especially with no build up to it before.  I was impressed and will be recommending this to anyone who wants something different with an evil child than The Omen...

Oh!  Who would win in a fight, Damien, or Miles out of The Prodigy?!  Let that sit in your brain for a bit...
