Unfriended: Dark Web

Being how fun I find these kind of films, all through a computer screen, and yet, it took me a while to see Unfriended: Dark Web...  "A teen comes into possession of a new laptop and soon discovers that the previous owner is not only watching him, but will also do anything to get it back."  ("Teen"?!  Are you mad?!)

I did not mind the first Unfriended, it's a fun but kind of stupid movie - but who doesn't love a movie like that?!  The second one though, is even better in my eyes.  Mainly, I feel, because it is less supernatural and more real life and sometimes this can be scarier than anything angry spirits can do.  Not that spirits or anything like that aren't scary - please don't come and haunt me!
Dark Web takes pretty much the same storyline as the first Unfriended, both films have the main characters do something naughty and karma catches up to them.  That's how I see these films anyway, about an hour and a half of karma catching up on someone - feel bad for the friends in the Skype chat though.  Characters were kind of dicks in the first one, but in the second, they had nothing to do with the whole thing, yet, they tended to die in some very original and horrible ways...  All they wanted was a games night, turned out to be their last...

Dark Web is a fun film, and one that I feel you shouldn't take too seriously, mainly due to the fact it really is not that scary, and is something to watch with food and lots of friends.  It does, however, have a scary underlying source - hackers.  Hackers, as well as break ins, farfetched ones at that, stealing, social media and one death involving guns that some might consider to hit home in some ways.  Mainly hackers, as the villains in this aren't any sort of ghost, they are real people, who plan and attack when the time is right, and they seem to be everywhere, and watching all the time.  Sure, it does feel like Karma, and like Saw, as long as you are a good person and have good people as friends, you'll be fine, but maybe not in real life...  It's creepy!

One massive problem I had with this film, is at one point, and I won't say why as it does giveaway the twist, but what looks like the software Paint is used.  Now, the paint edited photo would have been seen by lots, including Police.  My thing is, surely some, especially Police, would be able to tell it's edited?!  It's paint after all!  The edited photo is a main thing too, so if it's found out to be fake, the whole plan would have fallen through...  Funny.
I liked this film, I did, for some reason, I just find the whole point of view through a computer thing, a very fun idea!  And with this one not being anything supernatural and more close to home - I was hooked.

Lesson though, don't steal and don't use the dark web, kids!
