BEWARE THE MOON REVIEWS
Just a small little review here as I know this film really isn't much of a horror, but I just wanted to say a few little things regarding it. "Kevin's mother struggles to love her strange child, despite the increasingly dangerous things he says and does as he grows up. But Kevin is just getting started, and his final act will be beyond anything anyone imagined."
This film has been on my to watch list for a while, and after seeing a video on it on Youtube, I decided to go for it. It's a pretty clever little film to say the least, very bleak and unhappy, but clever. What We Need to Talk About Kevin does, is look at something horrific and very close to home with all of us seeing it on the news, and look at it from a different angle. A new angle.
Kevin does a horrific act, but instead of looking at his story, it looks to someone who notices it all, his mother. We Need to Talk About Kevin looks at the story of Kevin growing up and leading to the act, through his mothers eyes. The eyes of someone who sees what he is really like and someone who no one else sees, as he is completely different around anyone else.
It also shows that sometimes it isn't down to the upbringing of how someone is when they are older. Kevin is a horrible person, (and a little shit of a child. I hated him.), but yet, he had a loving family. His dad only saw him as a good son, and loved him, and his mum saw him as a horrible person and child, but still tried to help him. Yes, they both probably could have been harder on him, and maybe a bow and arrow wasn't the best idea for a present, but they tried, and he still was horrible.
I am glad I watched We Need to Talk About Kevin as it is a very well done film, that covers something we all dread from a different angle, but is still damn bleak about it.
Watching horror films since like 2003, when I could stand dead bodies..
