What We Do In The Shadows

What an insanely underrated movie this is! What We Do In The Shadows is about a documentary team who go and live with a bunch of vampires in New Zealand and follow their lives for a few months. It sounds different and it really is. It sounds like an original storyline but could also sound a bit like another found footage film.. Please, don't think that though, it is nothing like them, it is a whole new concept all together. Like, I really cannot praise this film enough.

The film as a whole is incredibly well done, the documentary style is realistic and along with the actual characters who, even though they kill people, you can't help but fall for. I mean, secretly, Viago is your favourite, he is adorable, and he is you, the way he acts in situations such as when he tries to wake his very very very old vampire housemate whose look looks to be based on Nosferatu, and, who, bless the poor bugger, just tries to keep the whole place together and not killing each other. But saying that, even though they are vicious killers, you can't help but actually like them, sometimes even more than the humans in the film.

What We Do In The Shadows covers the questions that you didn't know you had about vampires and also sometimes werewolves, such as when vampires bite into a neck, do they ever hit any main arteries that splurt blood everywhere, as opposed to it being neat and clean as seen in movies? Well, What We Do In The Shadows answers that, answers that and other such questions, like what happens if vampires and werewolves meet? That sounded a lot like something Troy McClure would say in some bad advert... But yes, this film covers those questions you didn't know you needed or wanted answered, but really, you needed it all, all of them.

I feel this film is a gem, it is a very funny gem, that catches onto the dark sides of the supernatural life, a life that has never really be done in this way, and it is done fantastically. I have already recommended it, and will do for the rest of my life, which could be forever if I am secretly a vampire...
