mum and dad
![]() How I keep getting to choose these films out of me and my parents, I have no idea, maybe because I am the only child? It could just be because my mum has her heart set on Jaws and we have only just gotten a new DVD player so no Jaws so far... Anyway, back to The Good Neighbour.. 'A pair of mischievous high school kids create the illusion of a haunting on an unsuspecting neighbor. While keeping his every reaction under surveillance, they see much more than they bargained for.' The Good Neighbour is actually a pretty good film - it's very unknown, but with someone as big as James Caan as one of the main actors - that's a pretty good selling point. ![]() In The Good Neighbour, the characters are okay, like they are the cliche teenage boys, especially as one of them is the quiet one and one is the cocky one. One thing that I thought was bad about the whole film though, was how they didn't caught doing anything, and where the parents were? Like, I'm not a parent, (unless you count looking after our cat.), but even I was like where are the parents in this, yes, one is at work and works late and they do state this throughout the film, but what about the others? At least one of them has a mum who cares and cooks them a meal, you see that in the film - but where is she when the boys are in their room at like 1am smoking a joint? Bad parents, and drinking, they are cleary drinking too, and have girls in the room late at night.. Gosh, I swear I'm not that old, I swear... ![]() The film as a whole, I thought, is quite a clever little thing. It basically works backwards in someways, as you start in court and just hear that there was an 'incident' but thats all you know. Then it goes to the actual film, and then back to the court, more details coming out as you keep watching it. It's very very clever, and really gets you involved and quite stuck into it. They mention blood and death and all sorts and you are literally on the edge of the seat and asking anyone sitting with you "WHAT'S GOING ON?!". Pretty sure my parents were feeling the same, being that everytime I turned to them, they also turned to me with the same look on their faces. I liked this film, and so did my parents. Me and my dad liked how it ended, but mother was not so sure on it. There is a bit of a turn in the ending and something that you don't expect, that I really really liked, but mother not so much. Didn't blow her mind, she liked the rest but not keen on the ending. It's a good film though, I would say to people to see it.
