mum and dad
After reading that Cam was just like a long length and film version of a Black Mirror episode, I was in! I wanted this on my TV and on my eyeballs. "A camgirl has her principles, until a mysterious woman who looks just like her takes over her channel."
I had heard soooooooo much about this film, which is crazy as it's only just came out. It was just covering my Twitter feed - I was up to my eyeballs with Cam! So, one evening, mum had gone to bed and dad asked if I had any idea on what to watch, I obviously suggested this and dad said yes. Woo.
Cam is great, honestly, it really is, it keeps you guessing and as on edge as you could be, as Cam isn't really that scary. It's definitely got a horror side to it, but doesn't terrify you or really make you jump, it's more psychological I would say. Plays more on the idea of what would happen if this happened to you, and how would you prove it, and also, people might not believe you - you could be screwed. I would have no idea because I didn't see the ending coming at all - if I was her, I'd have, hands down, lost my cam channel.
Cam is not just an interesting film, it's a clever one, and it teaches you a new way of looking at taboo subjects. The taboo subject here being cam girls. I feel most poo-poo this job and just think it means for girls to get their boobs out and doing things that you wouldn't want anyone seeing, especially your nan on the internet. This film shows that it isn't all that, Alice eats steak on one show, and her viewers love it, I've heard of girls playing with balloons, and eating gummy bears and one in the film is even reading to hers. It also shows what the women who do this job are like, not sleazy, or dirty, normal women who have normal lives. Fun fact, one of the writers was once a cam girl herself, so she knows what it is like, what you see in the film is probably as close to the real job as you could imagine and I like that. Fun facts are my favourite things.
Cam is also a really pretty film to watch, like so pretty, the lighting and set up of Alice's room, I want. It's also like they knew I would watch it, as they added in some lovely gore, just for me I feel.
I liked this film, it's a very clever little thing and really gets you thinking. Yes, I don't feel some of it was cleared up and I still feel I need to Google it, but I was entertained the whole time and I would watch it again at some point. Not sure I am going to be a cam girl anytime soon, unless someone would pay me to watch horror films or go to the gym, then I am in.
Not just there to raise you, also fun to watch scary films with...
