Curse of Chucky

I find I have a love and hate relationship with the Chucky films if I am honest.  I like the films, mainly the newer ones, Child's Play, I wasn't so much a fan of, but I loved Bride of Chucky, and I did really like Curse of Chucky - spoiler alert on this review.  What I don't like about these films is Chucky, and I shall get onto that soon...  "Out for revenge, Chucky the killer doll infiltrates the family of a woman, her sister and her young niece."

I liked this film, I did really liked this film, it's simple and pretty much covers everything you want in a film.  It has a strong lead character, in this film she is a woman and also in a wheelchair, what a great double whammy, extra strong character.  You have the scares, (I watched this with mum, and mum jumped so hard she scared our cat who was asleep on her lap, and the gore was also very much there, thank god!  It's also a very simple story, Chucky is back and obviously, he still wants to kill people - with this film though, you see more of the background of Chucky, which I actually really loved.

What I don't like about the Chucky films, this one and all the others, is the fact that no one seems to be able to fight him.  He's a doll!  He's a childs doll who is made out of plastic and is light enough for Alice, the little girl in this, to easily carry around with only one hand.  How is it that hard to fight him off?!  He has killed more people than probably Ted Bundy and Ed Gein put together over the course of all the films, yet he is not even a real person.  I know it is only a film and it is all fake, but still, HE'S PLASTIC AND WEARS LESS THAN A SMALL CHILD.  You could fight that off, surely?!
One thing I had heard about before seeing this film was about how Chucky looked, obviously, he is looking a bit more updated since the other films, and he is pretty much all CGI which is very different to the original movies.  I actually don't think he looks that bad, you can definitely tell that he is made differently, very much so, but I like it.  He can show much more emotion in these films and I thought his face was actually pretty creepy...  I do like films made with simple make up and such, but I didn't think it ruined the film or such, he was creepy, it worked.

I really did like this film, and so did mother - quoted from her own mouth, "Mum, did you enjoy the film?", "YES".  And yes, she really did answer just that and that loud and abruptly, she enjoyed it that much.  She also was watching this the entire time, made me pause it to go to the loo and to cook and such, and did not fall asleep like some films, (sorry, Veronica.).  It also ended well, with a nice little Chucky Cameo and a nice little jump scare to tie it all up until the next one...  Also, Fiona Dourif!
Overall, two happy watchers in this household, Curse of Chucky went down very well - we do plan to watch something else as soon as I finish this, hopefully...
