The Gory bits & bobs
Let's just say I am pretty excited for this year, not only for the fact it's a new year and I have a fair bit planned, oh no. For the fact that my mind is blown by the amount of horror films coming out this year, and original ones too. Not just remakes or the same old stories. Actual new, well thought out ones. Not just the normal cheap scares... Now, there are a fair few this year, and some I might have missed, but I shall start with one of the movies I am probably most excited about, Get Out. I saw the trailer for this months ago, literally months ago, and I told people about it, I shared it to people at work on Whatsapp, like I am weeing myself for this film from excitement. "A young African American man visits his Caucasian girlfriend's cursed family estate." This film looks soooooooo freakin' good. Like so so good. The trailer looks insane, it looks original, it looks scary, like very scary and it looks intriguing. It draws you in, like you don't really know the story fully, on the basics, or so you think. I feel this is one of those films that has lots of twists, and basically throws everything you thought you knew out the window and punches you in the face. I am excited. I am counting down the days for Get Out. I have always enjoyed movies with games and twists, like I adore The Game with Michael Douglas, the way it twists and you think you know it, but really you have no idea, no idea at all. This is what The Belko Experiment looks like, games, twists and pitting people against each other - all nice and fun. "In a twisted social experiment, 80 Americans are locked in their high-rise corporate office in Bogotá, Colombia and ordered by an unknown voice coming from the company's intercom system to participate in a deadly game of kill or be killed." This looks goooooood. Like it's about time a film about cat and mouse came out and was actually half decent. Most I feel are toned down, like Would You Rather, a whole film about pitting people against each other, to see how much a human can be pushed - and they toned it down, lost some of the suspense. The Belko Experiment, I have high hopes. This film has a genius concept, just stuck at work being killed off and not knowing what is happening, all while being watched - yes please! The next one is a film I had heard of but never really made effort to look into, why, do not ask, I was silly... "An ambitious young executive is sent to retrieve his company's CEO from an idyllic but mysterious "wellness center" at a remote location in the Swiss Alps but soon suspects that the spa's miraculous treatments are not what they seem." This film is A Cure for Wellness which looks creepy as hell. A mysterious centre well people go to get help, but then, dun dun duhhhhhhhh, no one wants to leave. Normally people want to leave a place after they get better, but not here, and why, no one knows just yet! Like the other ones, it is creepy, the concept is not as original as the others I would say, being that there have been movies before about a mysterious place that is supposed to be good for people and make people better, but have lots of secrets. A Cure for Wellness looks damn creepy, and has things living in the drinking water and lots of teeth, it looks like it has more than what meets the eye and I love that. Obviously, this one is one of the main ones of the year, being that Prometheus lacked four years ago, yes, this film is Alien: Covenant and, as I have said before, I am stoked. I adore the Alien films, well, I love Alien and Aliens is just as good... and let's not talk about the rest. I want this one to be good, and the trailer looks very very promising. Like it looks like it's going back to the olden days and it's going to be an old fashion, no cheap jumps, hiding the monster, scary horror movie. I have waited ages for this, I mean, I wasn't actually born when the first ones came out, but I have been waiting a few years since I first saw them, let's say that. I am excited. Very high expectations, Mr Ridley - I warn you. And there you have it, just a few of the amazing films I cannot wait to see this year, and why, I feel this year will be amazing. No offence to the ones I didn't unclude, such as Pet, IT, Saw Legacy, (which I want right now and I would have written about, but there is not even a trailer...), and more. This year will be a good one..
